A full re-landscape after a landscape architect created a nightmare for these clients.

After buying this beautiful house, the owners hired a landscape architect to redesign their yard. After 2 years, they started noticing white powder on the inside of their basement walls, and called Phoenix Builders. We informed them what it was and then determined the root cause… a drip-line irrigation system against the foundation wall and top-soil burying the sill plate of the house which trapped water against the foundation walls. We added drainage around the house and re-landscaped the yard with a “low maintenance” focus. Oh, and no more white powder on the basement walls.

Before

A drainage problem, veneer stone that falls off every winter, and failing walkways all around the house.

After

  1. A new walkway (using the client’s old bluestone) that ties in the cobble apron at the end of the client’s driveway

  2. New low maintenance landscaping

  3. A repurposed water feature that now serves as a hardscaped planter.

  4. Lower maintenance, and of course no more wet basement.
