Let me introduce myself. My name is Kumar and I am the founder of Phoenix Builders. I am a native Rhode Islander who moved to California’s Silicon Valley after receiving my degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). In my nearly 12 years in the California, I designed medical devices…things like heart stents. I also invented the smartphone wallet…. 11 patents and counting.

I got into construction after a number of disasters in my own house with contractors. As an engineer, I observed practices that, while I didn’t know the right way to do something, I was confident what I was watching could be improved. I thought that there have to be some good guys in the business, and I set out to be one of them.

Contracting reignited my passion for creating amazing things. Building is hands-on, interactive, requires careful planning and coordination, but also demands the ability to think quickly on your feet. I became addicted to the rush of presenting a client with their dream project. I see the ability of contractors to help a client envision and execute on a dream or fix major issues… I like doing both.
