Construction Executive (January 2011) reports that contractors play a big role in LEED certification, most especially in the areas of construction waste management, recycled content, and the use of regional materials. Contractors need to understand and be able to explain LEED requirements when the customer specifies sustainable standards. Critically, contractors need to follow LEED requirements when the customer or G.C. is seeking LEED certification.
